The RHSV Bulb Group

The RHSV Bulb Group commenced in January 1998.

Our mission is to encourage interest in gardening with bulbs.

Our objective is to provide an opportunity for home gardens and enthusiasts to meet and learn more about all types of bulbs.

Using a common sense approach and basic information our meetings are structured to extend members knowledge of bulbs through participation. Members are encouraged to bring cut blooms and pots of bulbs to each meeting. They keenly show what they grow and share what they know.

About Us

The RHSV Bulb group principal objectives are to enable the exchange of information between its members on all aspects of growing bulbs. The term bulb is being used in a general sense to cover corms and tubers as well as true bulbs. Our emphasis is on successfully growing bulbs in pots and gardens and in sharing our successes, and our failures too, with our fellow members. Through that sharing of experiences, we will all learn to be better bulb gardeners.

Members of the Bulb Group are automatically members of the Royal Horticultural Society of Victoria and receive all benefits offered by the Society; e.g.  R.H.S.V newsletters.

Specialist Bulb growers are invited as speakers at our monthly meetings.

At each monthly meeting a different bulb is selected as the main topic and discussed in depth. This is followed by members questions and answers segment, bulb growing competitions and a monthly show bench and an exciting plant and bulb auction. Occasional group orders of bulbs is arranged and social events to Various Nurseries and Gardens are conducted.
